Turning your van into a comfortable, reliable home on wheels should feel exciting, not overwhelming. At Livable Vans, we guide you through every stage, from that first conversation to the moment you drive away, so you always know what's next and can enjoy the process as much as the finished build. Build pricing varies based on layout, features, and add-ons, with most builds falling between $100,000 and $165,000, not including the cost of the van.
GETTING STARTED
1. Initial Conversation We start with a call to learn about your travel goals, your van (or the one you're planning to buy), and your budget. This is a chance for us to get to know each other and make sure we're a good fit.
2. Estimate & Securing Your Build Date If we move forward, we'll put together an initial estimate based on your vision. A $6,000 deposit secures your spot in our build schedule. We build one van at a time, which means every client gets our full attention from start to finish, and it's why spots fill early.
BEFORE THE BUILD
3. Design Process This is where your van really starts to take shape. We'll work through your layout, material selections, and all the details that make your build uniquely yours. Most of this happens over Zoom, calls, and email, so no matter where you're located, we make it seamless. Before your van arrives, you'll receive a finalized layout, materials list, and a detailed agreement outlining your build timeline and payment schedule.
4. Van Drop-Off You bring your van to us in Vermont and we take it from there. By this point we have everything we need to get to work.
THE BUILD
5. The Build Builds typically take around six months depending on your design and features. Because we're fully focused on your van and yours alone, we send regular photo updates throughout so you can watch it come to life. You're also always welcome to stop by the shop to see your build in progress. We love when clients do.
Payment schedule: 50% is due at the start of your build, 25% at the midpoint, and 25% due one week prior to pickup.
DELIVERY & BEYOND
6. Delivery Day Plan to spend 4-5 hours with us on delivery day. We do a full hands-on walkthrough of every system in your van—power, plumbing, kitchen, bathroom, and everything in between—so you leave feeling genuinely confident, not just excited.
7. Your Custom Manual Every Livable Van comes with a detailed custom manual specific to your build, a robust reference guide covering your systems, components, and maintenance so you're never left guessing down the road.
8. After the Road We stand behind every build with a one-year warranty on our custom goods and workmanship, because confidence shouldn't stop at delivery day. We also offer complimentary check-ins at our Vermont shop after your first big trip, just to make sure everything is exactly as it should be.
